Albasana
It all started many years ago ...
ALBASANA
Some things begin long before they carry a name.
Before a vision becomes visible.
Before a place begins to take form.
Before others can understand what one may only know inwardly as a quiet and persistent truth.
ALBASANA belongs to that kind of beginning.
The name did not arise by chance.
It carries roots within it.
It carries memory.
And it leads back to an origin that stood quietly at the beginning of everything.
Part of this name comes from Albarella.
From the island of my late "childhood".
From a place that was far more to me than landscape.
It was an early field of resonance.
A first imprint of beauty, openness, light, nature, and that almost inexpressible feeling that a place does not merely surround a human being, but shapes them.
Something began there that only much later found its language.
Perhaps not at first as a thought.
More as a feeling.
As an early knowing that places can carry soul.
That landscape, architecture, atmosphere and human feeling belong together.
And that true hospitality always has something to do with remembrance.
ALBASANA is therefore not simply a name to me.
It is a bridge.
Between origin and future.
Between early imprint and later embodiment.
Between what once touched me deeply and what now wishes to take form through me.
In every true becoming, there is an origin that must not be lost.
Not because one should cling to the past,
but because what is essential can only gain depth when it grows from a real root.
For me, these roots lie in landscape.
In Mediterranean light.
In islands.
In an early and deep love for beauty, dignity, culture, and that quiet sensuality which is never loud, yet permeates everything.
Perhaps something touches us so deeply because it reminds us of something we knew very early, long before we had words for it.
ALBASANA carries exactly this remembrance within it.
And perhaps that is the true beginning of everything:
not the idea of a project,
not a concept,
not even architecture -
but an inner origin
that continues to live quietly over many years
until one day
it is ready to take form in the world.
So ALBASANA begins in a first island.
In a first imprint.
In an early recognition of beauty and belonging.
In the place where something took root in the heart
... and was allowed to keep growing.
